Who we are
Scontrosa Graziella is a collective of people who share a passion for cycling, use it for commuting and leisure, and get their hands dirty repairing all sorts of bicycles — for themselves and for others. We support the use of the bicycle as a conscious and sustainable means of transport.
Cycling is a political act.
A space, a place, a city
Scontrosa Graziella is a space where you can find tools, skills, and helping hands to repair bicycles. Nothing is bought, nothing is sold: everything is shared. Starting with knowledge.
Scontrosa Graziella is an open, discrimination-free place for meeting, sharing, and new beginnings — a place to discuss together, learn, and fight for a better city and a better world.
Trieste is a difficult city for cyclists: virtually no cycling culture, few and poor-quality infrastructures that are often outright dangerous … and the hills don’t help either. But we are living proof that cycling in Trieste is possible (and necessary).
We support the Critical Mass, every last Friday of the month.
For years we lived without a physical space. The workshop’s equipment was scattered across basements and garages, and repair sessions were held outdoors during Burjana outdoor events. Now we have finally found a home at via del Bosco 12c — a space shared with many other Trieste-based activist groups that we invite you to discover!
What we do
Once a week we meet at the workshop, listen to good music, share a beer, and above all repair our bicycles together and help anyone who needs a hand, free of charge. But be warned: no one here fixes your bike for you — we help you do it yourself! You will get your hands dirty, learn something new, and perhaps pass it on to someone else.
We want to be part of a national network of community bike workshops, sharing experiences, tools, and visions. We are part of a larger movement — one that challenges the dominant model of mobility and proposes a concrete, sustainable, collective alternative.
How we sustain ourselves
Our income comes solely from the donations of people who pass through Scontrosa Graziella in various capacities, and from occasional self-funding initiatives. It is used entirely to cover the workshop’s running costs.
Donations are voluntary and guided by the good sense that defines cyclists!
